from 3/8 '20 to 3/8 '20
Takao-san Yakuo-in Temple is an old Buddhist temple located at the top of Mt. Takao, and holds "Fire Walking Festival" on the second Sunday of March each year. It attracts over 5,000 visitors in recent years.
The highlight of the festival is the monks walking barefoot through the fiery hot embers as they chant to pray for world peace, safety for one's family, and protection from any accidents. The flames are considered to purify people by burning all defilement away.
Visitors can also participate in the fire-walking at the end of the ritual.
Special Bon talisman(500 yen) and Fire-Walking memorial wooden necklace(300 yen) are sold on this day.

A lovely little temple near the top of the mount. Worth a small break to visit around

Nice and "very Japan" view. Many routes you can choose to climb up to the top of the mountain. Not a difficult route so it is also suitable for elementary hikers and even children. We went there in the fall season. Trees are in red, yellow and orange and we could take a lot of great pictures of this colorful mountain. Peaceful place with fresh air and easily access.

This temple is a must to visit, it s almost on the top of a small mountain, the path is walkable by mom with baby trail and people with disabilities. So all the people can enjoy it. Several corners where to check your fortune, to pray, to eat a kind of mochi with soy souce for 150¥ and to buy so many type of sweetness. Instrumental music is playing all day on

Great place to visit. Gondola ride or chair lift part way (requires tickets; or walk). Nice walk with much history, nature, and food to purchase. Can see Tokyo and Mount Fuji (if the weather is clear) from the top. There's a suspension bridge (not necessary to cross). Many things to see. Great restaurants at the base on the mountain.

Nice temple on Mt takao. At noon, you can watch the monk procession. Don't cross the head monk.
