Shinjuku Gyoen is one of the most popular of cherry blossom viewing parks in Japan. It is located just a short walk from Shinjuku station, yet you can feel rich nature and relax. Shinjuku Gyoen is an oasis of calm in the big and busy city. It is about 60 ha large and has some beautiful gardens, woods, a large pond, and hundreds of sakura cherry trees in early April.
There are about 65 kinds of 1,000 sakura cherry trees, and early-blooming cherry trees bloom from January. Between late-March and early April would be most crowded with visitors when somei-yoshino sakura are full in bloom.

A park is an area of naturally occurring, semi-natural or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. Parks may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil and trees, but may also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments, fountains or playground structures. There are also amusement parks which have live shows, fairground rides, refreshments, and games of chance or skill.

Wonderful, Japanese-style public park. You can enjoy different types of trees and flowers blooming year-round. If you intend to come here often, I recommend a one-year pass. Costs 2.000 JPY and is created on the spot.
Currently (April 2021) you need to preregister through their website to enter the park (not necessary with an annual pass).
Also features a nice Starbucks inside (currently drinks only served to go, but you can sit outside on a bench or on the lawn).

I visited on a regular week-day and there weren’t much people. This garden is located in the middle of a busy city, so you can visit here if you want some time to relax and feel peace with nature. It’s quite a spacious garden with several gardens, and you’ll need to buy a ticket to enter (but really worth it). It took me at least about an hour work to get around. I’m considering to buy a year-pass!! that’s how much I love this place hehe

田舎とか森林にいる気がした Gorgeous garden to go to when you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban Tokyo. Especially beautiful on rainy days (but watch your step!)
