This is such a great place for a relaxing walk in the middle of Tokyo. Very close to busy Shinjuku station, one can find peace and tranquility at the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. The park is vast but it is divided into several smaller units, some more traditional Japanese while others with a strong European presence. The bridges and water features in the Asian gardens are relaxing and able to put you in a contemplative state. The roses in the European area are absolutely gorgeous. One can easily stay for hours here but if you are in a hurry, expect to spend about 90 minutes or so.

Very nice garden to visit and a great place for a family to relax! We had a blast walking along the scenic pathways and exploring the different areas. We really enjoyed the greenhouse with its wide variety of tropical plants. The roses were blooming when we visited and each was very unique and had its own characteristic. I personally liked the way the avenue of trees looked during our visit.

Beautiful garden to visit! A must see. It is a very large park. You will see many people on the grass with their picnic baskets just enjoying the scenery while eating. The park is very clean even though it probably has thousands of visitors a day. There's an indoor greenhouse to visit with various flowers, desert plants, aquatics etc. Definitely a must see!

Beautiful park! Clean and peaceful. The colors were really pretty even if it was mid-December. There were hues of red, orange, and yellow. Plus there was a greenhouse that exhibited tropical plants so it was interesting to see tropical plants during the cold winter weather.
