from 3/19 '21 to 4/11 '21
※Due to the coronavirus concerns, the Sakura Festival is canceled in 2020.
Ueno Park is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo.
The vast park is rich in nature, and has around 1,200 cherry trees along the park’s main promenade.
Ueno Park is the most crowded cherry blossom viewing spot in town as many people come for Hanami (cherry blossom viewing party) with food and drinks at day and night. Japanese lantern illuminate cherry blossoms veryt visionary at night.
Sakura-dori street is popular for the Sakura-view-point in Ueno park, which is most crowded and lively. If you want to see Sakura leisurely, Shinobazu Pond would be better, and you can enjoy paddling a small boat.

Very large park with plenty of things to do including museums and a zoo! We visited in April 2019 and they had lots of areas blocked off for people to sit, eat food, and enjoy the cherry blossoms. There were also plenty of food vendors, but I'm not sure if they're always there or were just there because of the season. There's a nice path you can walk through some cherry blossom trees right on the water were they also provide peddle boats for you to rent. We also saw a street performer with a monkey that put on a good show and the monkey seemed happy and we'll cared for.

As you enter Ueno Park, you'll stumble across a striking statue of a man and his dog, immortalized in bronze. This statue is of the legendary samurai Saigo Takamori, one of the most influential samurai in all of Japan. A man often dubbed as the 'last true samurai', the statue is an iconic Ueno landmark.

Beautiful park with so many attractions to explore! The gardens here are beautiful any time of the year and it's just so peaceful and serene as you're walking through the temples. There's a museum and other things to do here as well, and is a wonderful and relaxing way to spend a day.
Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different.

Relaxing ambience. The water fountain near the museums is the best place to spend the evening.
