This park is so beautiful and large. Perfect for a day trip from Tokyo. The nemophila and tulips were in full bloom and so pretty to look at. The park has a huge green area perfect for a picnic. There are many food stalls and lots of benches and tables to enjoy a beautiful day outside. The park was surprisingly not too crowded even though I visited during golden week. I would recommend going as early as possible to avoid the peak crowd in the afternoon.

Beautiful park with open fields, trees, and gardens by the sea.
Recommend bringing picnic & sport equipment for activities.
Didn't get to check out the amusement park area, plan to next time.
Lots of food (truck) vendors with tasty snacks/meals and beverages.
Can easily spend the whole day there.
Plenty of parking with fair charge (under 700 yen).
Admission was free at the time we went (last 3 hours before closing, 5pm).

I’m told this is literally the only thing to do in Ibaraki. We drove 3 hours to get there and I think it was worth the drive. Beautiful park with many beautiful views. Could easily spend the entire day here walking around and riding rides. We enjoyed ourselves. Can rent bicycles and ride around the park too. Not too crowded middle of the week. Giant shopping mall across the street too.

Tip: Bus & admission bundle ticket available for sale near the bus boarding area (at Katsuta station) during peak season.
Advice: Check weather forecast! Go there early, check bus timings and ensure that you wear comfortable shoes!! (A lot of walking involved!) Purchase bottled drinks before heading there to keep yourself hydrated.
Food: There were many food trucks around in addition to the food court (no need to worry about food). The cafe in the woods is a must visit though it’s quite pricey.
Others: There is a wide area for picnic or setting up of tents.
Overall: It’s a really beautiful place. Will consider returning in spring!

A lovely big park. When I say big, it is massive. We went when it was raining and we practically had the whole park to ourselves. We didn’t see another person in most areas. Lots of things to do and see. There are areas, especially around the silent garden which feel like they have just been left to go wild. More than worth the price to get in.
