Yoshiwara Gion Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Fuji city, Shizuoka prefecture. It has 350 years history and called "Otenno-san" by locals.
On the first day of the festival, from 1:00PM, decorated floats parade around Yoshiwara Shopping Street. Then from 3PM, the portable shrines are carried by only women around Yoshiwara-honcho Station. Besides, Miya-Taiko drum performances are held on 4PM on Yoshiwara-honcho street.
On the second day, the main event features portable shrines banging against each other from 3PM, and 21 decorated floats as well as mikoshi portable shrines are paraded on 6PM - 9PM. It's very energetic and exciting! Also, you can enjoy collecting red ink stamps of some temples, or eat-and-walk at a number of food stalls along the street.
