Shibazakura (pink moss or phlox moss in English) is one of the most popular spring flowers in Japan. The site is located 3 km away from Lake Motosuko within Fuji 5 Lakes (Fujigoko) site. Visitors enjoy an amazing contrast of pink flowers and the blue sky and mountain.
The festival is held for one month and a half from mid April, yet the most recommended time for viewing is early to mid May.

Very beautiful park at the peak time. You’ll amazing photos here. On a clear day you could see Mount Fuji along with the flower beds. Quite crowded at the peak time during spring. If you’re staying for more than a day or two, only then recommended, else visit other recommended places near Fuji first.

Heavy traffic as expected. More or less hundred thousands of people come during the shiba sakura festival (summer time).
From the car park area, you have to walk around 1km to get to the flower park.
Indeed a scenic view

The place is beautiful especially with Mt. Fuji at the background. The mountain is so majestic but before noon the picture doesn't come out good because of the sun exposure. Good to visit but best to avoid during golden week. The traffic during golden week was terrible, took one hour for a 7km drive going to the park... The trip back to Tokyo wasmore than twice the usual travel time.
