"Owara Kaze no Bon" is a festival which has been held for about 300 years in Yatsuo area, Toyama City. It takes place each year in September 1st to 3rd.
Yatsuo is a rustic village, nestled in the southern mountains of Toyama City. During the festival, as many as 200,000 sightseers visit the town.
"Etchu Owara" is a folk dance handed down for 300 years in this village. Both a song and a dance, it is lyrical, refined, and elegantly plaintive. Several thousand paper-covered lamp stands line the old-fashioned townscape of lattice-doored old wooden houses and storehouses, as men and women dressed in traditional clothes dance through the hillside village, accompanied by traditional Japanese string instruments and taiko drums. You will be enchanted by the calm dreamlike atmosphere.
There are some kinds of dance, such as the elegant women dance and the energetic men dance. The dance parades look unique because their faces are hidden under folded straw hats.
The street performance is held in 11 districts. Come to Toyama and enjoy to watch one of the most sophisticated folk dance and song!

45 mins by bus from JR Toyama Station
