Danjiri Festival is a festival cart-pulling festival held around Osaka area. A "danjiri" means a large, heavy wooden float in the shape of shrine or temple. The biggest Danjiri Festival in Japan takes place in Kishiwada City, Osaka, every year in September.

The opening pull of Danjiris starts at 6:00 morning on the first day, Sep.14. Danjiris begin a mad dash around the streets of castle towns at the sound of siren.
After the opening pull, between 9:30am and 5:00pm, 34 danjiris are pulled by local men to parade through towns and race with each other. The Danjiri is towed by about 500 men and women with two ropes of 100 meters in length. One of the main highlight of the Danjiri Festival is "Yari-mawashi", a traditional skill in turning Danjiri at corners. The Danjiri is towed at nonstop running speed while navigating 90 degree corners. Its powerful and thrilling towing attracts a multitude of spectators.
After 7:00pm, lantern-lit Danjiris parade throughout the town. Danjiris are decked with Chochin red lanterns and do the parade in a slow procession along the main route. The bright lanterns, the rhythmical drums and chants mix harmoniously make atmosphere so warm and peaceful.

On the second day, at 9:00am, Miya-iri (Going to worship at the shrine) starts. 34 Danjiris devide into three groups and go to worship at the three major shrines.

This place is wide. I bought a safety amulet from a guy in this place. It even has the English word "safety" on it. So cool.
