from 7/4 '19 to 7/7 '19
Tanabata Fesdtival, also known as Star Festival, is held in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka Prefecture in July.
Shimizu Ward is the hometown of Chibi Maruko-chan, popular Japanese Manga series.
During the festival, bamboo rods dripping with colorful decorations and many anime pictures including Chibi Maruko Chan are hanging all over the town. The festival is fun for kids too!
Let's stop by the Tanabata Shrine to write your wish on colorful paper strips and tie it to a bamboo branch.
The 1-km long shopping street in the downtown is decorated with gorgeous and traditional paper balls and ornaments.
Also, there are a lot of food stalls on the street or in front of Shimizu Station. Enjoy!
