Hokkaido Shrine Festival, also called Sapporo Festival, is the annual festival at Hokkaido Shrine in Maruyama, Sapporo with over 100 years history. The Hokkaido Shrine enshrines 4 gods including the soul of the Emperor Meiji.
On June 16, the final day, a line of more than 1,000 people in colorful traditional costumes parades throughout the Sapporo city, along with 4 portable shrines and 8 floats. The parade starts at Hokkaido Shrine and reaches the central Sapporo in the afternoon, passing along major avenues lined with spectators.
Traditional dedication ceremonies are held at Hokkaido Shrine, where many festival stalls are also set up. Stalls and other attractions, including a haunted house, are also featured at Nakajima Park.

Sadly, I came in summer... Yet, its serenity is unquestionable... Loved it...

Clean, quiet and peaceful shrine. There’s lucky draw for people to know their fate. Worth visiting!

Recommended. Lots of people went to the shrine at that day. Seems there was a big ceremony going on. I found out later that’s the Coming of Age day. Nice surrounding park and beautiful shrine. We should put on the Japanese kimono and take some photos here.
