”Uryuno Hyakuhattai” is the traditional local Obon event at Hatano City, Kanagawa Prefecture to pray for a good harvest and a end to the epidemic.
People carry 3-meter long torches made from many straws to Gongen Mountain, and fire up after sunset.
Then about 50 local men and kids carry flaming torches down from the top of mountain to the Ryuhoji Temple.
When arriving at Ryuhoji, local men and kids swing flaming torches energetically.
The scenery of showers of sparks and the performance of brave men is so dynamic!
Uryuno Hyakuhattai is designated as Intangible Folk Cultural Property.
