Kashiwa Matsuri is a summer festival that happens at the end of July (mostly 4th weekend). It is two days matsuri with many events and parades. About 700,000 people join this festival. It is one of the best festivals in Chiba. There is Kashiwa Odori parade, Mikoshi parade, Samba parade, Nebuta parade, Bon Odori and all other kinds of festival entertainment. Also, about 400 food stalls create a festive atmosphere.
An opening ceremony starts from taiko-drum performance and Kashiwa Dance, and then a band of Kashiwa firefighters, a brass band of Kashiwa high school, Yosakoi Group, and Taiko Group make a parade.
One of the most featured events is Nebuta Parade. The Nebuta are massive lanterns floats based on kabuki or mythical stories, and famous Nebuta craftsman living in Aomori made the Nebuta floats for Kashiwa Festival. They are so energetic.
On Sunday, mikoshi portable shrines carried by local people parade through the Kashiwa City.
In addition, the music performance by Kashiwa Highschool Brassband Club on the west exit of Kashiwa Sta. would be much fun.
You can also enjoy shopping local products in the bazaar.
