Decided to visit, about an hour drive from Takayama. Parking was full and was redirected to another parking site towards the end of the village, which we needed to pay for parking. Very busy and touristic, would be better to visit people at time when lesser people for better appreciation. The roofs at the village are thick and is simply breathtaking. There’s also restaurants along the main stretch across the village. Expect a queue. We may consider visiting Gokoyama the next time as it is supposed to be less touristic.

A great place for a morning walk with a great view of mountains and traditional village houses. Stop by the little food stalls as you walked around the village and be surprise with the great taste they offer. Go up the observation deck for a top down view of the whole village.
