The Fukuro Festival is one of the major festivals in Ikebukuro area, Tokyo. The festival is held on two separate weekends, late-September and early October.
The first section, held on the 28th - 29th of September is known as the Owl Festival, features Mikoshi(portable shrine) Parade.
You can see a mikoshi parade, taiko-drum shows, traditional lion dances, and festival music performances.
The second section, held on the 12th - 13th of October is known as the Tokyo Yosakoi Festival. You can see yassa and kappere dance performances and an Okinawan Eisa dance show. And the Tokyo Yosakoi Dance Contest will be held as a finale of Fukuro Festival. Over 5,000 dancers of 136 teams gather from across Japan to show off their yosakoi dance routines with folk music "Tokyo Ondo". Jazz and rock music are used in Tokyo Ondo, so everyone from all generation can enjoy to see the parade.
