Nice and "very Japan" view. Many routes you can choose to climb up to the top of the mountain. Not a difficult route so it is also suitable for elementary hikers and even children. We went there in the fall season. Trees are in red, yellow and orange and we could take a lot of great pictures of this colorful mountain. Peaceful place with fresh air and easily access.

Great place to visit. Gondola ride or chair lift part way (requires tickets; or walk). Nice walk with much history, nature, and food to purchase. Can see Tokyo and Mount Fuji (if the weather is clear) from the top. There's a suspension bridge (not necessary to cross). Many things to see. Great restaurants at the base on the mountain.

Beautiful temple to visit along the path up to Mount Takao. Beautiful carvings around the temple, but some of them looked faded. Probably time for some touch-up.

Wonderful temple, large space and mighty buildings. Arrive early to enjoy with less crowd. Not as touristy as other temples, which is a plus.
