Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture is a huge park featuring a variety of seasonal flowers spread out across 200 ha. The park also contains an amusement park, cycling path, and BMX courses. Everyone from adults to children can enjoy here.

Around mid-October, about 32,000 Kochia (summer cypress) which are planted on June turn red on the Miharashi Hill.
Kochia is an annual plant native to dry lands in Eurasian Continent. As they grow, they change their color, and in summer they are light green and fluffy. After summer they gradually change from green to red, and finally they are scarlet red in October.
In addition, about 2 million cosmos flowers bloom around same time.
Enjoy viewing beautiful harmony of Kochia and Cosmos!

Very well maintained nemophila flowers on Miharashi Hill, looks beautifully blue just like competing with the blue sky. This blue blend can be seen during the month of April and may. Although we could not witness 120 species of roses but one could enjoy this may be by the end of may month. Avoid visiting during June and July months, since there are not many flowers because of the scorching summer.

The parkis pretty, photogenic, but not suggested during peak season, like Golden Week. The crowds are likely to drive you crazy. However, if you are into crowds and like to enjoy the party mood, it is recommended. There are various food / drinks stands in the park. They also seem to prepare temporary toilets for visitors during the peak season.

The flower field is beautiful if it's fully bloomed. By the end of April it's a good time to visit, but you can expect a lot of other visitors too.

We went on a Sunday to the park. There's a ticket station at Katsuta Station selling bus and entrance tickets during flower season. It's very convinient!
We were impressed how beautiful the hill was. Many locals visited it, but the paths along the hills are well planned and there's always some place to take photos.
It was a little bit windy on top of the hill.
