Rurikoin Temple is located in Yase area of Kyoto, and it exhibits only twice a year, in spring and autumn.
It is famous for having beautiful Japanese-style gardens, Ruri-no-niwa and Garyo-no-niwa. The view of autumn leaves from Ruri-no-niwa is especially fantastic.

Hundreds of maple trees are planted in the Ruri-no-Niwa. The landscape from the second floor of the Shoin, where the window view is full to the brim with gorgeous leaves courtesy the garden's maple trees. This view is what has made Rurikoin Temple famous in recent years, with the gorgeous greens of fresh leaves or the warm tones of autumn ones reflected off the polished wooden floors and the large tables set on the inner tatami mats.

The best season is mid-November, and Rurikoin will be so crowded by tourists from home and abroad.
They have entrance regulation and the max number to enter in will be 30.

Sadly the ticket was sold out when I arrived at around 2 p.m on Sunday. Nonetheless the outside is beautifully coated in red & yellow color of the fall. I'm sure inside the temple is even more breath-taking

It's a very beautiful temple. It's worth the time on lining up and waiting outside.

The most important thing to do here as a tourist seems to be taking one scene only. If the queue is very long and the red leaves are not in good condition, you should consider to save your time and visit other places. The entrance fee is 2000 yen, which is very high.

Low key beautiful Temple that is a bit of a journey from the city and also a bit pricey at 2000 yen per person but it was well worth it, no regrets

Ridiculous amount of people queueing at entrance for a ticket to get on site to get a pic from a table in the room. Not a very pleasant experience but would have done it again if I have never been. The place is pretty just way too many people
