The 76th Atami Plum Garden Festival takes place between Jan.11 and Mar.8 at Atami plum garden, located in Atami City, Shizuoka Pref.
There are 472 plum trees of 58 different varieties on its 4.4-hectare site. And there are both early and late blooming plum trees, so visitors can enjoy viewing plum blossoms longer here than anywhere else.
The spectacle of the plum blossoms is concentrated around back Kofubashi Bridge, and it would be the best highlight.
During the festival period, there are also a boot bath and souvenir shops in the garden.
In addition, you can enjoy watching a Japanese traditional performance, music show, street performance, and monkey show.
Amazake (non-alcohol sweet SAKE made of rice) will be offered for free on Sundays and holidays.

-Take the Izu Hakone Bus bound for Ainohara Danchi from "Atami Station" of JR Tokaido Shinkansen for approx. 15 minutes, alight at "Baien" and walk for approx. 3 minutes.

I went there for red leaves on 9 Dec 2019. A day after night illumination festival, no entrance fee was required. But the red leaves were still looks amazing. It was not just red, it was colourful with a spectrum of red, yellow, green, brown, black ... Worth visiting!

Currently not a lot of plum and couldn’t see the waterfall but overall it’s very beautiful. Maybe towards March, it would be prettier.
