from 2/16 '20 to 3/31 '20
Tsukigase Plum Valley is one of the Three Great Plum Forest, designated as National Scenic Beauty in 1922.
Approximately 10 thousand red and white plum blossoms are in full bloom on both side of slopes of the valley, and that view is so beautiful and fantastic.
During the Edo period, scores of writers and artists visited this area. A stone slab stands in the valley inscribed with Matsuo Bashou’s Haiku poetry and there is also a monument commemorating Tomioka Tessai.
"Tsukigase Plum Festival" is held on middle-February every year, and there are various fun events such as a tea ceremony, Haiku convention, a rice-cake-throwing event, and a marathon race.
