from 4/14 '20 to 4/15 '20
The Takayama Festival is one of the Japan's three most beautiful festivals along with Gion Festival and Chichibu Festival.
It is held twice a year in spring and autumn in Takayama city, Gifu prefecture which takes 2.5 hours from Nagoya.
The Spring Festival, called "Sanno Festival", is the annual festival of the Hie Shrine in the southern half of Takayama's old town.
It features 12 festival floats(yatai),go around the town in a parade and the festival floats are displayed in the streets of Takayama.
Also, several of the festival floats are decorated with mechanical dolls that can move and dance(Karakuri Performance).
In the evening of the first day, the festival floats are pulled through the streets of Takayama's old town for about two to three hours. The evening festival is considered the festival's highlight by many visitors.
Visitors would feel like they go back through time to the Edo period.

Well maintained the shrine and the open spaces. Also, there is good description of the shrine on plaques.

A quiet shrine partly hidden by nature. If you are in Takayama during peak autumn, this shrine should offer a nice view.
