The "Gion Festival" is the best-known festival in Japan, and Gion festivals are held not only in Kyoto but also throughout Japan. It dates back to the year 869 as a religious ceremony to appease the gods during the outbreak of an epidemic.
Susano-o Shrine was founded in 679 in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima, and it is said that the Gion Festival has been continuing in Susasnoo Shrine since that time. Annually, Gion Festival is carried out over the three days in July.
The festival features Mikoshi(portable shrine) parades, especially the "Mikoshi Fight" where three mikoshis each weighing around 500-kg clash with one another like a battle is so exciting and powerful.

A very quiet and pleasant shrine. The site is large, and one corner is like a park with playset. It is also a place where parents and children can visit and relax. The fresh green season feels good. My purpose was to get a red stamp, so after worshiping, I went to the shrine office. Alcohol disinfectant is also available as a measure against corona. The red stamp is like getting something written on paper. Next to the main shrine is the Somin Shrine, which is said to be the birthplace of Kaya no Wa. I also visited here, and after that, I took pictures and spent a leisurely time. It is a calm and good shrine.

Somin Shorai's descendants. Disappearance of illness.
As you know, this is Susanoo Shrine, the origin of Kaya no Wa.
The Gion Festival and Kaya no Wa season are coming soon, but will it be held this year?
I will worship a little earlier today.

It's safe to buy a talisman of Kaya no Wa and say "Somin Shorai's descendants".

It is a very nice and historical shrine.
There are many parking lots a little further away.
The fighting portable shrine is very famous, and there is also a talisman using a carrying tree that carries the portable shrine.

I asked for the end of the Kamidana. I think the correspondence is very good.
I think the parking lot is a little small.
