"Oshino Hakkai" is a set of eight ponds located in Oshino village near Fuji Five Lake, Yamanashi Prefecture. Oshino Hakkai consists of Deguchi Pond, Sokonashi Pond, Choushi Pond, Waku Pond, Nigori Pond, Kagami Pond, and Shobu Pond. And it is registrated as a cultural heritage of UNESCO.
On August 8, the Hakkai Festival is held every year at Oshino Junior High School.
In addition to a Shinto ritual worshipping Hachidai Ryuo, the festival has Taiko Drum Performance, Bon Dance Party, Hachimonji-yaki Fire Show, and famous character show for kids.
The highlight of the festival is the 45-min Fireworks Show, which has three parts including laser light fireworks and Niagara Fireworks resembling waterfalls.

Access: take a Fuji-Kyuko Bus from Mt.Fuji Station(25mins), and get off Oshino Hakkai stop.
