Tambara Highland in Gunma is situated at an elevation of 1,300 meters, and is a world of soothing color where the breeze is filled with the fragrance of lavender in summer.
About 50,000 lavender shrubs are planted on the ski slopes. During the peak season from mid- July to mid-August, a brilliant carpet of purple flowers in full bloom covers the slopes. The purple lavender carpet can be enjoyed from the ski lift which works also in summer.
It is about 2 hours away from Tokyo area, and it's cooler than Tokyo because of a high elevation. You can spend a comfortable time here in summer.

During the season, about 15 types of lavender flowers are in full bloom. Each type of lavenders bloom in order in different times, so you can enjoy viewing the purple carpet at any time during the lavender season.

Not only viewing flowers, here is a nice spot for kids. There are a lot of equipment to play, such as a bouldering, a trampoline, a water slide(300yen), and more.

Also, local special cuisine attracts people. The lavender soft-serve ice cream is the must-eat!
And you can enjoy shopping at the souvenir shops selling original lavender goods.

The lavender was so low only max knee level and it was not fully grown and a little bare field...despite came in mid Aug. A very small field of land for lavender. The sun flowers was more than lavender and they are just at the bottom instead the top. The observatory tower was just a small bridge at the top

I don't have a private car, but I wanted to go to see lavender in the suburbs of Tokyo, so I took a tour that includes this lavender park.

It was refreshing to walk around the vast site.
I walked around without getting on the lift, and on the way back I got on and off the lift. Both had different fun and different views, and I was able to spend a fulfilling time.

You can buy lavender goods at the souvenir shop, and I also got a potted plant of lavender.

The weather is really scary in the summer, and fog and thunderstorms are commonplace, so be careful.

The price is fine, but the lift is recommended for climbing, as it will be damaged by the heat.
Umbrellas are rented free of charge instead of sun umbrellas.

Please note the time as the lavender software will be closed before the lavender park itself closes.

You can buy lavender potpourri, dried flowers, and goods at shops.

It was my first visit. A flower garden using a slope? There are various types, but the timing is definitely difficult. Not all flowers are in full bloom. Still, not only lavender but also sunflowers 🌻 are in full bloom and you can enjoy nature. The altitude is about 1300m, so the wind is very cool and refreshing. My children were happy because I can bring my pets with me, so it is hot and it is difficult to take a walk at this time. Lavender soft serve ice cream may be divided into likes and dislikes. I thought I could visit it every year. It may be better to go with the Kawaba no Michi station as a set.

If you go down the Numata Interchange and go up the mountain path, you will find it on the top of the mountain. Parking seems to be free in summer.

The slopes are beautiful from winter to early spring and lavender and flowers are beautiful in summer.
OK with dogs. There was one dog for 400 yen.
There is also a dog run.
While the lavender is in motion during the lavender season, it's fun to walk up and down while enjoying the surrounding small swamps, flowers and trees.
When I went there, it wasn't in full bloom, but I want to go again when it's in full bloom.

There were many lavender scented products at the shops near the entrance.
Lavender soft ice cream was delicious.
