Raccoon Dog, known as Tanuki, appear often in Japanese folklore.
One of the famous Tanuki tales, the Awa Tanuki Battle is about a great war between two tanuki held in Awa Province, Tokushima.
Each year on early-November, the Awa Tanuki Festival takes place at Aibahama Park in Tokushima.
The 3-days festival attracts about 300,000 people every year, and now it comes to be autumn tradition of Tokushima.
There are various stage events such as Karaoke Contest, Awa Dance, Traditional Puppet Show, and more scheduled.
Also, lots of food stalls including Tokushima Ramen line up in the park.
In addition, you can enjoy to join some craft workshops such as making Tanki mask or Japanese paper doll.
