Tofukuji Temple is one of the oldest and largest temples in Kyoto, and famous for its beautiful view of autumn leaves.
From mid-November, about 2,000 maple trees are turning their color crimson or gold.
One of the best spots viewing fall foliage in Tofukuji Temple is Gaunkyo Bridge. You can see the stunning view of thousand autumn leaves of Sengyokukan Gorge from Gaunkyo Bridge and Tsutenkyo Bridge.
Maple trees in Tofukuji Temple are brought back from China in old time and its leaves are divided into three parts, and they change to a characteristic gold color.
Tofukuji Temple has 25 sub-temples, and one of the sub-temples―Shorinji Temple offers night illumination events (no lit-up in 2020 )during autumn.
Also Tentokuin Temple and Ryuginan Temple have special autumn viewing events.

Admission: no charge to enter the grounds. Honbo garden：¥500. Tsūtenkyō bridge, kaisandō, and Tōfukuji honbō gardens: ¥1000 each (15 and under ¥300 each). Ryōgin’an: ¥1000 (15 and under ¥300).
From Kyoto Station: Take JR Nara Line to Tōfukuji Station, then 10 minutes’ walk
From Osaka Station: Take Keihan Railway to Tobakaidō Station or Tōfukuji Station; it’s an 8–10 minute walk from either stop
*Tōfukuji Parking is unavailable during autumn.

Admission : 600 yen/adult, 300 yen/high school and junior high school student, Free/children
*During this period, you can see the statue of Bishamonten and Kisshoten specially which can not be seen generally. And the light-up of the garden is so fantastic.
