Bakan Kite Flying Contest is held at Kameyama Hachimangu Shrine, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi.
Various hand-made kites are flied by local people into the winter sky. A giant kite called "Mishima Demon Kite" with about 15m2 size is one of the highlights.
There are various events such as a bean-throwing ceremony, lottery, and Damon Dance to enjoy. On January 26, the Kite-Making workshop will be held at Kameyama Hachimangu Shrine.
