The biggest castle complex I've visited so far. With the relatively expensive parking fee and beautiful garden for one of several places you should visit, I highly advice to reserve around half of your day here.
It is not commercialized like the others so walking in the complex would let you imagine what it may have been going on there during its glory days.

Amazing. Five stars, two thumbs up, cannot possibly recommend highly enough. If possible, try to get a guided tour! The history of the castle and technique that went into readying it for battle are fascinating.

Pleasant sunny day. Lovely maple leaves. It is a good place to refresh yourself with your loved ones. It surely gives you the peace of mind with fresh breeze and scenic views.

Oldest original castle in Japan. Good vibes; the wooden floors were beautiful and felt great under foot (shoes off). Friendly staff. This castle has a beautiful mote around it!

Hikone castle gives you a nice view of the city. The ladders inside to climb up floors are quite steep, not so great for those with young kids or elderly folks with disability. As a solo tourist, I liked all the different explanations and the staff was friendly.
