from 4/12 '20 to 4/19 '20
Kamakura is one of the most famous historical cities in Japan, the birthplace of Japan's first samurai government, the "Kamakura Shogunate." Minamoto-no-Yoritomo, the first shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate, constructed the Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu Shrine in 1191. Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu Shrine is dedicated to the god of war and attracts thousands of visitors now.
"Kamakura Festival" is held on April each year at Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu Shrine. The festival opens with splendid Samurai Procession and Mikoshi Parade from Wakamiya-oji Street to Tsurugaoka-Hachimangu Shrine.
The highlight of the festival is the Shizuka-no-Mai dance performance, which is based on the tragic story of Princess Shizuka. Besides, various events such as a Yabusame horseback archery, a tea ceremony, a Haiku poetry reading, and more, are scheduled.

A place you should visit at least once when you come to Kamakura.
The view overlooked from the temple grounds is worth a visit.
The lotus flowers are beautiful in July ✨

I can see why this is one of the most visited temples in a city that is filled with temples. The architecture is beautiful and it's really a complex of temples and shrines that shows a fun blend of Budhism and Shintoism.

This shrine is beautiful. It's large and has a very large complex it is located on with several other things to see and do and smaller shrines.
The approach to it from one side has a tree-lined sidewalk path that winds through a busy street with tons of shopping and eating and small lion and dragon statues.
It's very pretty, very old, and has a very real sense of calm around the whole place.
