Located in the middle of Yokohama Chinatown, this unique aquarium with the theme of "Let's have fun, learn and enjoy!" exhibits 5,000 fish and aquatic creatures of 300 species. As this aquarium, formerly known as Yoshimoto Omoshiro Museum, was originally produced by the Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd. which is a major production company specializing in comedy shows, it is far from ordinary aquariums ("Omoshiro" means funny, amazing or interesting). Water tanks are placed in exhibition rooms which imitate rooms in a primary school, such as the principal's office, the warehouse in the gymnasium and the music room. A variety of quizzes and experiments are provided for children to learn about fish with fun. Its annex, the Akachan Suizokukan (Baby Aquarium) features eggs and juveniles of aquatic creatures and you can learn about the life cycle of them in the Kindergarten themed exhibition rooms. Water tanks are embedded in the picture book shelf or play equipments such as a slide on which kids under 6 can actually play. Some of water tanks are placed in a low position so that toddlers and even crawlers can enjoy watching them in the shoe-free rooms. (Japanese - can be google translated into English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified) and Korean)
