This canyon, designated a quasi-national park, is considered one of five most famous valleys in Japan. The 18km stretch of a river with a dam-formed lake is rich in nature, and you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, lush greens in summer, vibrant colors in autumn, and snowscape in winter. The autumn colors, viewed from a lake cruise, will burn itself into your memory for years to come.

Best highlights include the On-bashi bridge, an overhanging arch of limestone rock, the 200m-long Hakuun-do cave, and plenty of waterfalls and strange-looking rock formations. If you are athletic, try one of hiking trails to fully submerge yourself into the nature of this valley.
