The Hiroshima City Forest Park Insectarium is one of the largest of its kind in Japan, displaying more than 2,000 live insects of 50 different species. You can see, and in some cases, touch a large variety of insects, including ones proper to Japan and foreign species. The most popular is the Papillon Dome, where around 500 butterflies of 10 species fly around you.

The facility is divided into many interesting themes, such as alien species, waterside insects, nocturnal creatures, and forest and meadow inhabitants. There are seasonally oriented events, special exhibition and outdoor observation tours throughout the year.
