Located 300km southwest of Okinawa Main Island, this island is mostly flat, covered with sugarcane fields and fringed by white sand beaches. The triangle-shaped islands with long fingers sticking out into the sea has a various types of coastlines, and there are many popular spots for snorkling, kayaking and diving in the coral reefs.

Boraga Beach in the southeast corner is for good snorkling, Sunayama Beach in the north lies near a large sand dune, and Yonaha Beach in the southwest is a popular white sand beach and just before the large bridge connecting the Kurima islet. Higashi-Hennazaki is the cape in the southeast for good sunset views, and the tropical botanical garden in the north is a great place to stroll in greenery.
