This small flat island 4km southeast of Shoren Peninsula is famous for beautiful beaches and production of carrots. With a circumference of 7km, you can easily make a loop on foot or with a rental bike. On the west side lies Tomai Beach, a 2km-long white sandy beach popular with fishers, divers and camping enthusiasts. The northeast area has a lot limestone caves and you can see large crabs.

The vast fields in the center produce carrots, whose sweet taste highly valued in Okinawa. Also dubbed the Carrot Island, it has an observation deck and benches shaped like a carrot. Other local culinary specialties includes mozuku seaweed and shiokara, fermented squid guts. The island is reached by a 30-min ferry ride from Heshikiya Port.
