This gorge in the upstream of the Tenryu River is famous for its cruises through granite rocks and cliffs. Two different cruises, each 40 to 50 minutes on a traditional flat-bottomed boat, explore strange-shaped rocks covered by cherry, azalea, maple and red pine trees. On one cruise, the boatman throws a net into the river to catch fish, which are grilled and served to the customers on the boat.

There are some onsen inns situated on the edge of the cliff, providing a gorgeous view of the valley. The hot spring here contains miniscule amount of radioactive elements, considered effective for high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries. The area surrounding the valley has a large number of apple orchards where you can enjoy apple picking in the autumn.
