If you want to get your bearings, Tokyo Tower is a first place to start your tour in the city. This 333m-high tower was erected in 1958 to serve as a TV and radio broadcast antenna and has since been the main symbol and attraction of the capital city. The majestic form in red and white stands out beautifully in night illumination.
The main observatory at 150m and the special observatory at 250m offer panoramic views over the metropolis and, weather permitting, as far as Boso Peninsula and Mount Fuji. The souvenir shop on the tower base (2nd floor) is filled with Tokyo specialties, some of which are limited to this shop. Around the tower are parks and greenery space where you can enjoy a happy stroll on a fine day.

Definitely worth it. Go at night to see the best city night view. For a person that is scared of elevators. This was very well put together. Heights are nothing to be scared of here. Everything is secure. Staff is so friendly and cute! I love their outfits!!I would post a picture but I don't want to ruin the fun!

We hadn't planned on going up to the observation deck, but are glad we did. It was 900¥ each ticket, but well worth it. It was night time during the holiday season when we went, so the lights were mesmerizing. I would recommend trying to go during the evening time when the lights are visible and the surrounding horizon is visible as well. I wasn't aware when I went that Tokyo tower is not the largest tower in Tokyo. Sky Tree is the second largest structure in the world, and largest tower in the world. I feel that's something others should consider when visiting. Overall, lovely experience!

You have to visit Tokyo tower. It is a symbol of Tokyo, Japan. Of course, Sky tree was established a few years ago but Tokyo tower is still meaningful of every travellers.
Actually, it is not good as observatory to Tokyo city because there are so many taller buildings than Tokyo tower but it is nice for you to watch near location in both daytime and night time.
In anniversary days, you can see other colors tokyo tower.
Have a good trip!

Worth a look.
Great view from the higher viewing platform of the 2 available. It was great to hear the history and awesome to be able to get your bearings and enjoy the expanse of human development that is Tokyo....
We went a little before sunset, which turned out to be a double bonus with all the lights at nightfall. They dont rush you out once you are up there, which allows you to chill and enjoy the visual feast for as long as you like....
Check it out if you have the time and inclination.

The Tokyo Tower was well known to us long before we set foot in Tokyo. For the first 2 and a half days we were in Tokyo, we caught sight of this magnificent tower form a far, and usually during daylight. Well, it looked like any tower should look during the day. We decided to visit this place in the late evening and catch the night lights and we were not disappointed. The entry/exit floor has a very typical Asian plaza feel to it but once we got into the entrance to the Tower, it took on a completely different feel. The staff were courteous, typical japanese courtesy, and professional at all times. We were shown into the elevator after a mere 2 minutes wait and before long, we were zooming halfway up the tower. The main landing floor has a typical souvenir shop, but the views all round were great. We had a great time and would recommend going up a bit earlier for the sunset and staying until the lights come on.

Tokyo tower still keeps its exterior elegance, and many of the people still prefer to visit here rather than Tokyo Sky Tree.
Shall we enjoy the panoramic view of Tokyo from the observation deck?
