Lake Shojiko (Shoji-ko)2.9
Shoji-ko, located in Fujikawaguchiko town, Yamanashi Prefecture, is the smallest lake in the Fuji-Goko (Fuji Five Lakes) with a perimeter of 5km. Though it is small, Lake Shoji was widely known as an international resort in Japan, for Harry Stewart Whitworth, a British who built a hotel on the lakeside, introduced "Japan Shoji" to overseas in 1895 as "the world's most beautiful lake" and "Switzerland in the Far East". The view of Mt. Fuji from the north shore of the lake is popular with the name of Kodaki Fuji (Mt. Fuji cradling a child) as it looks like Mt. Fuji carrying Mt. Omuro, a parasitic volcano, on its foothill.
