This red brick building serves as a brick museum in the city of Maizuru facing the Sea of Japan. Built in 1903 as Navy's torpedo warehouse, this structure is one of Japan's oldest steel-reinforced brick building. Maizuru is known to be a city where many of early 20th-century red brick structures, once used as Navy buildings, forts and railway warehouses, remain all over the city.
The museum features history of brick architecture all over the world. There are exhibits of Mesopotamian bricks with ancient letters dating back roughly 4000 years, a relief representing Chinese mythology 2000 years ago, and those carved with coats of arms of the medieval Europe. You can also see a various ways to produce bricks.
