World Heritage: Kofukuji Temple4.4
This temple was founded in 710, the same time the capital of Nara was established. The temple is famous for its 50m-high five-story pagoda, the country's second tallest following that of Toji Temple in Kyoto. In the precincts is recently renovated National Treasure Museum that display the temple's Buddhist art collection. A three-faced, six-armed statue of Ashura is very imposing. This is the nearest sight from Nara stations.

Very nice area that is expansive enough to support a lot of people at once. The gift stores have really nice charms and trinkets that are fairly reasonable and include a tile you can purchase to "donate" towards the reconstruction of the buildings.
It's just a very short walk up from the deer Park once you've had your fill feeding them biscuits and getting attacked by them lol! ( Or maybe that was just me)

It's beautiful and very easy to get to. Most of the deer that hang out here won't have any interest in you unless you have food, a lot of cool things all in one area and a very convenient one at that.

Deer, temples, what more could you want?! Stopped in here in my way from Kyoto to Osaka, and did not regret! Feeding deer for 150 yen was definitely worth the money. We walked from Nara station (1.5 km or less), nice shops along the road to it made it all worth the trip.

Very famous Buddha temple. There is a old wooden tower which is over 500years old. Next to Todaiji temple. I recommend you here to stop by.

Beautiful Buddhist temple, where we can see deers anywhere, and give food directly to them. Love the panorama.
