The Shinsekai district, home to the 103m-high Tsutenkaku Tower, gives you a feel of how things used to be decades past. Contrary to its name meaning 'new world', the area is a throwback to good old days of Osaka.

In the every corner of town is the suspicious looking statue called Billiken, a deity of prosperity. Almost all the eateries, souvenir stalls, cinemas, theaters and game arcades are something from a 1970s science fiction movie. The streets are gaudy, bustling, vigorous and energetic. There are many eateries offering kushikatu (skewed pork) and takoyaki. You cannot leave Osaka without eating these two!

Everytime I come to this place, It makes me feel nostalgic about 70s and 80s eras. There are many oddly flashy signs welcome visitors. In this district, streets are always crowded with people of all ages looking to eat cheap and yummy kushikatu(deep-fried skewered meats and vegitables) or just to stroll around the district for something else. You can feel the peculiar but livly side of Osaka when you visit here.

This is an amazing place in Osaka . What makes this place special is that you can enjoy old good Osaka! I've been living in Osaka, but when I visit here, I feel I am enjoying time traveling. Why not enjoy another face of Osaka?
