This peninsula in the western Tottori Prefecture is the largest sand spit in Japan. Stretching northward for 20km, the peninsula forms an arch of white sand beach on its east side facing the outer sea. The beach is lined gracefully with pine trees planted as windbreak, making good contrast with sand, sea and sky.

You can see nothing but the sea and horizon here, and the distant flickering light of squid fishery is very romantic in summer. The sea near the mouth of Hino River is popular with yacht sailing and windsurfing, and there is an onsen resort near the southern end. The peninsula's west side, facing the inland sea, has a park with many water birds, an ideal spot for bird watching.
