In this park there is the Sai no Kawara River Beach, one of the source of hot springs in Kusatsu Onsen Hot Spring in Kusatsu Town, Gunma Prefecture. The hot water that spring from all over the rocks flows as a river, and the surrounding area is dotted with hot spring pools named Amber Pond (Kohaku no Ike) and Azure Pond (Ruri no Ike), etc. There is a stone-paved promenade among them and you can enjoy walking and viewing the unique and gaunt scenery. The promenade leads to the Sainokawara Open-air Bath (Sainokawara Rotenburo) at the end of the park, and on route there are literary monuments, a portrait bust of Dr. Erwin von Bälz who introduced Kusatsu to the world, and a visitor center that exhibits the nature of Kusatsu.

This is a must visit when you come to Kusatsu. To reach the open air bath, you need to walk through the park and it is a very pleasant walk with many photo spots.

The open air bath is a must try. It costs 600 yen but there is no towel nor shower. If you don't want to spend over 1000 yen to buy a towel, you should take it from your hotel and bring along. It is a huge open air bath with excellent view.

You probably need to spend 2 hours in total when visiting this park.

Such a lovely park! You need to walk through the park to reach the Sainokawara Open Air Bath. There are also two public foot baths and some seating area around the park. We came here twice, in the day and night. The mood at night is different and nice too. Really pleasant and tranquil here.

Walking distance from the center of Kusatsu, a must when you’re there, also there in an open onsen on the hill right next to the park (600 yen for an adult), some places of the bath have roof so you can enjoy even its raining or snowing

I visited there ay night. I think maybe visiting at night is better because no one was there at nighttime. I took a foot bath there that was awesome but you definitely need to bring your towels unless you wear your socks with your wet foot.
