A natural park that portrays the world of Nordic fairy tales in the forest of Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture. The concept of the park was developed by the correspondence with Tove Jansson, the author of the Moomin books. Though no character figures from the books are seen in the park, you can feel the world of the stories by playing freely in untouched nature. On the 7.6 hectares (18.8 acres) site, there are the Mushroom House, the Children's Theater and other buildings which are built with local wood and blend well with the surrounding forest. The Forest House, which is built with cypress logs, exhibits books and materials of Nordic fairy tales. Being adjacent to the Nordic-style cafe, a kids space is provided for everyone. The park is lit up in the evening on weekends and holidays. Admission is free and there is no souvenir shop!

Small but fun little nature park. Whimsical Moomin theme. Water features are relaxing. Nice to walk through small woodsy area from the sun/heat. Free parking.

The park is quite small but we visited at night and some areas where closed.
The atmosphere is nice and it feels magical if you know moomin stories.

Lots of nice views. Unfortunately during my visit, most buildings were closed.
