Abounding in wild forests and free pools of hot spring, the Shiretoko Peninsula in far eastern Hokkaido is one of Japan's 100 Wild and Scenic Spots. The peninsula was designated as Shiretoko National Park in 1964 and declared a World Heritage Site in 2005.

This area offers great opportunities to seek out hot springs in wilderness. Among the most popular are Usura, Seseki, Iwaobetsu, and Kanuiwakka-yu Falls, a hot spring with warm waterfalls that has been featured in many magazines and TV programs. Utoro, on the peninsula's northwestern side, also has good onsen (hot spring) and is a great point to start your adventure.

The cruise has two courses, Mt. Shiretoko Io-zan, and Shiretoko Cape. Io-zan course is 23kms, and takes 1 and half hour, Shiretoko Cape course is 46kms, and takes 3hours. If you're lucky, you can see brown bears from the ship.
