Chokai Blue Line is a mountain road which runs up from zero to 1,100 m (3600 ft) above sea level. This road, 34km (21 mile) in total length, is a scenic bypass connecting the National Route 7 with Nikaho City in Akita Prefecture and Yusa Town in Yamagata Prefecture, detouring the vast grassland at the foot of Mt. Chokai-san. You can drive through the two prefectures enjoying the magnificent view of the Japan Sea, Sado-ga-shima Island, Shonai Plain and Oga Peninsula.
