Osaka Castle Park4.7
The Osaka Castle Park is truly a gigantic oasis of the city. This park is about 100 hectares of green space, picturesque moats, huge stone walls, walkways lined with plum, apricot, cherry and maple trees, and carefully tended flowery gardens. It is very tranquil and clean, and is a good place to have family outing or weekend picnic. The castle's illumination at night is also fantastic.
It is recommended to spend at least half a day, whether or not you want to enter and climb the castle. It is quite a big park, accessible from several different stations. Don't forget to take a picnic rug and lunch with you !

If you just want to see the outside great, take a walk around and enjoy and get some good pictures. Inside you can get nice views of the city from the top floor but it is sort of caged so you won't get a great Panorama. There are some cool artifacts like Samurai swords and armour. I would recommend budgeting at least 1.5-2 hours to be able to see everything and read the history

The castle is beautiful on the outside for photos, but pretty much a museum with writing on the walls telling the story of how Osaka was built for 5 floors. It was very interesting but I probably could’ve read this stuff online beforehand. There is nice art and handwritten letters in there as well. View from the top is nice.

It's not Osaka without visiting the Osaka Castle. The area surrounding the castle itself is really cool itself, and the castle is just really a sight to behold. With a pretty good view of the Osaka area, as well as a guide to indicate what landmarks are where, it's quite an experience to just stand there and imagine what it was like in the past, with a view of the areas surrounding the castle. The exhibits inside also gives a very detailed history of the people behind the castle and events that have happened throughout the span of its life, from the wars to the family trees. Really great place to visit if you enjoy the history and culture of Japan.

Great view from top, and interesting museum displays inside. Loved the video highlighting parts of the huge painted screens - we’d never have appreciated the details. And the little holographic scenes were great.

It was really nice castle and the history of it is amazing but when I finally got in there on this really hot day I was disappointed to find that the exterior of the castle is the only thing historic about it. The interior has been renovated and a museum in its place featuring a few historic items, history, samurai outfits things like that. I was hoping to at least see one room preserved but no. I was not allowed to take photos or videos inside the premises.

Please take a look at the pair of golden dolphin-like ornaments set on the roof. It is called “Shachi-hoko” It is believed that Shachi-hoko has a special power for preventing fire, although this Osaka castle has been burned down before...
