Osaka Castle Park4.7
The Osaka Castle Park is truly a gigantic oasis of the city. This park is about 100 hectares of green space, picturesque moats, huge stone walls, walkways lined with plum, apricot, cherry and maple trees, and carefully tended flowery gardens. It is very tranquil and clean, and is a good place to have family outing or weekend picnic. The castle's illumination at night is also fantastic.
It is recommended to spend at least half a day, whether or not you want to enter and climb the castle. It is quite a big park, accessible from several different stations. Don't forget to take a picnic rug and lunch with you !

Impressive castle with access through nice grounds. The castle looks good from the outside with expansive views from the top floor. As with some (most?) other Japanese castles, the inside is fitted out as a modern museum. There are some genuinely interesting exhibits, some nice video exhibits and most of it has English translation. Personally, I would prefer the inside to be more authentic hence only four stars.

The walk up was very scenic and I enjoyed seeing the different layers of the castle. The outer moat is still in tact but the inner moat has dried up. You can pay to travel up to the top of the castle but the views are beautiful from the ground and the view of the city is also pretty good since the castle is already on a hill. Must visit if in Osaka

The magnificent Osaka castle. It is one of the best places I have visited ever. The mare size of the area is astounding. All the walls are made of huge chunk of rocks and matched perfectly. There are tour vehicle inside the boundaries of the castle and the best part is they are dressed like ninjas. Ceremonies and marriages are held in the shrine inside the boundaries of Osaka castle. The east side has a beautiful park as well. This is definitely one of the top visiting place in Japan.

The castle looks so gorgeous and I can't imagine how beautiful it would look during cherry blossom season or autumn when the leaves are all golden orange. I was surprised that you can actually go inside the castle although there isn't much to see. Once you get to the very top you can observe a beautiful view of the Osaka city. You might want to bring a jumper or scarf because it does get very windy up there as it's an open observatory. Be prepared for a ton of tourists.

Absolutely beautiful castle. Be sure to give yourself hours of free time to make sure you can finish everything in time. There is a lot of interesting history to read throughout the castle. The top floor has a patio you can walk out to and sight see. (Make sure the day you go it isn’t a really windy day. ) The top floor also has a small gift shop with some goodies :)

Please take a look at the pair of golden dolphin-like ornaments set on the roof. It is called “Shachi-hoko” It is believed that Shachi-hoko has a special power for preventing fire, although this Osaka castle has been burned down before...
