The Osaka Castle Park is truly a gigantic oasis of the city. This park has about 100 hectares of green space, picturesque moats, huge stone walls, walkways lined with plum, apricot, cherry and maple trees, and carefully tended flowery gardens. It is very tranquil and clean, and is a good place to have family outing or weekend picnic. The castle's illumination at night is also fantastic.

It is recommended to spend at least half a day, whether or not you want to enter and climb the castle. It is quite a big park, and accessible from several different stations. Don't forget to bring a picnic rug and a lunch box with you!

A very beautiful castle. One of the historical sites in Osaka you should visit. Easy access by subway. There is also a famous shrine next to the castle. Japanese people would visit the shrine almost every day for good luck and health. The shrine would be especially busy during the New Year 29 Dec to 4 Jan.

Decent for a quick visit. Not that enjoyable as the inside of the castle is nothing like the original. The new restaurants near by have been a great new way to attract more visitors I believe. Fot me the main attraction is the surrounding park.

This is a very iconic castle. You may also opt to enter, but when I visited, I just explored outside of the castle. If only it was not raining when I went, I would have stayed longer to take photos :P Anyway, it is a good place to visit in Spring for the cherry blossoms.

Been here once with the family. Visiting this place means there's going to be a lot of walking so it's best to wear comfortable shoes. It would have been nice to visit the castle during cherry blossom season.

A lot of historical information and quite a beautiful looking castle. It is significantly more ornate than is typical of Japanese castles but enjoyable. Inside is a museum where you can learn the history of the castle and surrounding areas. The view from the observation area is quite awesome!

Please take a look at the pair of golden dolphin-like ornaments set on the roof. It is called “Shachi-hoko” It is believed that Shachi-hoko has a special power for preventing fire, although this Osaka castle has been burned down before...
