Osaka Castle Park4.7
The Osaka Castle Park is truly a gigantic oasis of the city. This park is about 100 hectares of green space, picturesque moats, huge stone walls, walkways lined with plum, apricot, cherry and maple trees, and carefully tended flowery gardens. It is very tranquil and clean, and is a good place to have family outing or weekend picnic. The castle's illumination at night is also fantastic.
It is recommended to spend at least half a day, whether or not you want to enter and climb the castle. It is quite a big park, accessible from several different stations. Don't forget to take a picnic rug and lunch with you !

The park area is nice and the castle is beautiful. It’s restored though so not the original structure. The inside costs $6 and it really depends on what your expectations are and how much you like history if that’s worth it or not. Very touristy inside with gift shops and museum exhibits with historical anecdotes. The view from the top is very nice and is the real reason I paid to go in.

The highlight of this area isn't the castle but the park around it. The castle has been rebuilt so the inside is just a modern museum with a decent but low observatory as the top floor.
The park around it many towers that you can go into and beautiful tree ponds surrounding it. They also offer illumination at night and flower viewing during spring bloom.

Beautiful place to go to if you’re visiting Osaka. In the middle of a gorgeous park, where you will be able to see live performances if you’re lucky. Go inside the castle to see historical artifacts and figures or climb your way to the top to see a view of the town. One of my favorite memories in Kansai

Lovely park/gardens surrounding the castle - worth the walk around.
The castle from the outside is quite impressive; the inside has been converted to a multi-level museum and doesn't have the feel of the inside of a castle at all but is interesting, all the same. A good viewing area on the 8th level which gives nice 360 deg. views around the city and the park below.
Well worth a visit.

Really enjoyable experience. You don't really need to go into the castle if you just want to enjoy how beautiful it is, but I would recommend it for the view from the observation deck. As someone else pointed out, the pond is a must for beautiful photos.

Please take a look at the pair of golden dolphin-like ornaments set on the roof. It is called “Shachi-hoko” It is believed that Shachi-hoko has a special power for preventing fire, although this Osaka castle has been burned down before...
