Philosopher's Path3.9
The Philosopher's Path is a wonderful place for a stroll in the morning or evening. The 1.5km stone path meanders along a canal conecting Eikando Temple and Gingakuji (Silver Pavillion) in the Northern Higashiyama district.
The path takes its name from the famed 20th century philosopher Nishida Ikutaro, who is said to have taken frequent strolls along this route, deep in thought. The path is lined with a variety of flowering plants throughout most of the year. In spring, the overhanging cherry blossoms make an awesome floral tunnel, and a flurry of cherry petals falling and floating over the stream is a must-see.
