A hot spring town which consists of two districts i.e. the Nagaoka District on the west side of Mt. Genji-yama and the Kona District on the east in Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Hot springs in the Kona District are said to be founded about 1,300 years ago and it is mentioned in the "Azuma Kagami (The Mirror of the East)" , the Japanese historical chronicle about events around the late 12th to 13th centuries, as a hot spring resort in those days. Minamoto no Yoritomo (1147-1199), the founder and the first shogun of the Kamakura shogunate, is said to be one of the celebrities who visited the Kona Onsen hot springs. The water quality of the hot spring is alkaline simple spring, and pregnant women and small children can also enjoy this mild, colorless, odorless, smooth and gentle on your skin hot springs. It is also famous as a hot spring water which you can drink. Health benefits: recovering from muscle fatigue and neuralgia gastrointestinal diseases, improving overall health and beautiful skin etc.
