Jimbocho Old Book Town (Kanda Jinbo-cho Koshoten-gai)3.4
Kanda Jinbocho (or Jimbocho), a laid-back area with a cluster of colleges, is known as the world's largest secondhand book market. Along with general bookstores which deal with new books, major publishing and printing companies, there are 176 stores (as of 2020) of secondhand bookstores gathering in this area. Each of them specializes in genres such as Japanese and foreign literatures, philosophy, religion, medicine, natural science, fine art, theater, music and sports. Even if you can't read Japanese, you can find books in other languages including English, Chinese, Italian and Spanish, or just enjoy browsing art books, manga, vintage maps, old movie flyers and antiques. Annual book fair is held in autumn (late October or early November) and a number of vintage books are sold at stalls. Jinbocho is also know as a town of curry, gyoza dampling and other cheap and delicious restaurants along with relaxing cafés.
