Located closely to the bustling center of Shibuya, Daikanyama is a more laid-back place to find new fashions and cultural trends. The streets and back alleys are lined with sophisticated cafes, cute confectionery shops and a wide variety of independent boutiques. The landmark here is the 36-story residential and shopping complex, Daikanyama Address, with a huge flower sculpture standing in front.
Another highlight is the Hillside Terrace complex, a stylish complex that offers restaurants, cafes, bookstores and some art galleries. Daikanyama is home to several foreign embassies and affluent residential properties catering to locals and foreigners alike. There used to stand Japan's first western-style apartment building dating from 1920s.
